In the vibrant setting of the Essence Festival of Culture, I designed and developed a celebratory WebAR facial filter experience. This project was designed to engage attendees in a unique digital interaction, allowing them to visually transform into the essence of the festival's spirit and pretend they were on the cover of the magazine..
I developed three distinct WebAR facial filters, each embodying a facet of the festival's culture and theme:
Flower Crown Filter: This filter adorned users with a virtual crown of vivid, beautifully animated flowers, symbolizing the blossoming of culture and diversity celebrated at the festival.
Essence Logo Filter: A dynamic representation of the Essence brand, this filter overlayed the Essence logo above the user's face, seamlessly integrating brand identity with user interaction.
Flowing Petals Filter: The most technologically advanced of the three, this filter created a captivating visual of petals flowing around the user's head. The petals' movement was influenced by real-time physics and the user's head movements, creating a fluid, lifelike interaction.
Built on the 8th Wall platform, these filters were accessible via web browsers, removing the need for app downloads and thus broadening user access. Rigorous testing was conducted to ensure cross-platform compatibility and real-world usability. The project utilized advanced WebAR technologies, including:
Real-time Face Tracking: Ensuring seamless integration of the filters with the users' facial movements.
Physics-Driven Animation: For the flowing petals filter, I employed physics algorithms to simulate natural movement, reacting to the user's head motions.
